My Language Learning Goals for 2025 and How I Plan to Achieve Them

As a language learner, I love setting clear goals and making a plan to reach them.

In 2025, I want to maintain and improve my skills in English and French, reach a solid B2 level in Spanish, push my German to B1, and even start learning Portuguese in September. It’s a big challenge, but I’m excited to see my progress!

I already have a good level in both English and French, so my focus this year will be on maintaining my skills and making them feel even more natural. My plan includes staying in contact with both by watching YouTube videos, watching TV series in English, and listening to French music, podcasts, and even the radio to keep my ear tuned to the language.

I also want to keep reading books and articles in both languages to expand my vocabulary and strengthen my comprehension. In terms of speaking practice, I’m going to use the shadowing technique and ChatGPT, not forgetting to read aloud.

Achieving B2 in Spanish

Spanish is a big priority this year. I want to reach a solid B2 level by June 2025 and then continue focusing on speaking more naturally.

Here’s my approach: I’ll use the Busuu app to improve my grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension until June. After reaching B2, my focus will shift more towards speaking. I’ll use shadowing, reading aloud, and spontaneous practice to build fluency.

Pushing German to B1

German is still challenging, but I’m determined to reach a B1 level by the end of the year. My strategy includes different steps:

Step 1: A2 Level – I’ll continue using Busuu to reach A2, building a strong foundation.

Step 2: Reading – This summer, I plan to start reading books in German to increase my exposure to new vocabulary and sentence structures.

Step 3: Speaking – By the end of the year, I want to feel comfortable speaking a little in German. It won’t be perfect, but I aim to have basic conversations.

Starting Portuguese in September

In September 2025, once I feel confident with my Spanish and German progress, I’m going to introduce Portuguese from scratch. At first, I’ll focus on listening and basic phrases, but my goal will be to build a strong foundation for future learning.

Balancing multiple languages isn’t easy, but I have a daily routine that helps me stay consistent. Whether it’s listening to a podcast while driving, reading for a few minutes during the day, or practicing speaking with ChatGPT, I make sure to use my time wisely.

I know that language learning takes patience, but I’m excited to see where I’ll be by the end of 2025. This year is all about improving my fluency, building confidence, and adding another language to my journey.
